ADVANCED GUIDE
Learn how prompts, OCR, context, fonts, text size and rendering settings work together. These recommendations are starting points: the best configuration depends on the scan, language and manga style.
The prompt tells the AI how to translate, not what text to read. A good prompt defines tone, terminology, names, censorship rules and formatting. Keep it direct: too many contradictory instructions can reduce quality.
Translate this text.
Translate naturally into Italian.
Preserve the meaning, tone and character personality.
Keep names and established terminology consistent.
Do not add explanations or translator notes.
Return only the translated dialogue.
Translate naturally into Italian with a dramatic manga tone.
Keep character names, spell names and proper nouns consistent.
Preserve honorifics only when they are important to the relationship.
Do not translate established attack names unless a glossary entry says otherwise.
Avoid overly literal sentence structures.
Return only the translated text.
Translate accurately and naturally without censorship.
Preserve explicit meaning, intensity and character tone.
Use direct terminology appropriate to the scene.
Do not soften, omit or add content.
Return only the translated dialogue.
OCR converts text pixels into editable text. Translation quality cannot fully recover text that OCR read incorrectly, so select the OCR engine according to the source language and page style.
| Source | Recommended mode | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Japanese manga | MangaOCR / Japanese | Best starting point for vertical and stylized Japanese text. |
| English scans | EasyOCR / English | Works well with clean Latin fonts and horizontal dialogue. |
| Chinese manhua | Chinese OCR or Auto | Review the detected language when Japanese and Chinese characters overlap. |
| Korean manhwa | Korean OCR or Auto | Clean digital lettering generally produces strong results. |
| Mixed-language pages | Auto, then manual override | Use a fixed source language when Auto repeatedly chooses the wrong engine. |
Smart Comic Context gives the model nearby dialogue and continuity information. It helps with pronouns, names, recurring terms, speech style and sentences split across balloons.
Faster and suitable for short, independent dialogue or simple comedy pages.
The safest default for most chapters. Good balance between continuity and speed.
Useful for fantasy terminology, complex conversations and long narrative scenes.
More context is not always better. Reduce it when the model starts mixing speakers, repeating older lines or importing details that do not belong to the current balloon.
A manga profile should store the prompt, glossary, source language, target language, OCR choice and rendering preferences for one series. This prevents settings from one title affecting another.
Rudeus Greyrat = Rudeus Greyrat
Dragon God = Dio Drago
Orb = Orb
Mana = Mana
Fireball = Palla di Fuoco
Use the glossary for established terms, names and deliberate exceptions. Do not add every common word: an oversized glossary can make translations rigid.
Text should look balanced inside the balloon, remain readable at normal page zoom and match the visual tone of the source.
| Setting | Recommended starting point | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Font | Clean comic or rounded sans-serif | Avoid very thin fonts and decorative fonts for long dialogue. |
| Text size | About 55–75% of available balloon height | Leave visible internal margins; do not fill the entire balloon. |
| Line spacing | 0.9–1.1× font size | Tighter spacing feels more comic-like, but must remain readable. |
| Outline | 0–2 px for light balloons | Use a stronger outline only over textured or dark backgrounds. |
| Alignment | Centered for balloons | Use left alignment for narration boxes and long paragraphs when appropriate. |
Keep text centered in the usable area rather than the geometric bounding box when tails, irregular edges or overlapping artwork distort the balloon shape.
Cleaning removes the original lettering before the translation is rendered. Strong cleaning is useful on white balloons, but aggressive settings can erase borders, screentones or nearby artwork.
Clean white balloons, large bold text and high-contrast digital pages.
Text over artwork, textured balloons, thin borders and low-resolution scans.
Sound effects, handwritten notes, transparent balloons and overlapping characters.
Translation time is divided between detection, OCR, AI generation, cleaning and rendering. A faster GPU mainly improves the local AI stage; it does not automatically fix slow OCR or very large image processing.

It may be a proper noun, item name or established fantasy term. Add a glossary rule only when the series has an official translated form.
Remove instructions that demand word-for-word output. Ask for natural dialogue while preserving meaning, tone and character voice.
Create a series profile and add the canonical spelling to its glossary. Use medium or high context for recurring characters.
The translation may be longer than the source. Shorten verbose wording, improve line breaks and reduce padding before heavily shrinking the font.
Reduce context, simplify the prompt and verify that OCR blocks are ordered correctly.
Translate a few representative pages, review OCR and layout, then save the final configuration as a manga profile before processing the full chapter.
